2011 Predictions from The Somers Team
As I write this it is Christmas Eve and 2010 is coming to an end, it is time to make 10 predictions for 2011, some of which will be quite bold ! Please add your own predictions in the comments or comment on some of ours as well !
1. Philadelphia Eagles make it to the Super Bowl but lose in a nail biter - sorry locals ! 
2. Banks - It is the year of the Financials as the Bank Stocks lead the Dow past 13,500 with the the bank stocks up at least 20 percent for the year with the big winners being Citigroup and Bank of America.
3. Real Estate - Home Sales Increase in Value Nationally slightly versus 2010
4. Homebuliders - Stocks in home-builders rally for the companies with the stronger balance sheets (such as Toll Brothers) .
5. Science - There will be some blockbuster science announcements such as inhaled insulin, cancer breakthroughs, or medication for obesity as there is a huge backlog of drugs waiting to hear from the FDA.
6. Economy - One of the States or municipalities will ask for a Federal bailout and will receive it.
7. Interest Rates - By the end of the year, interest rates are above 6 percent for a 30 year fixed mortgage.
8. Google buys Twitter
9. China becomes more of an International powerhouse as it acquires more of our debt as we fall further behind in education and science due to debt, socialism and government spending and welfare.
10. Early 2012 Prediction - Obama gets reelected due to his positioning himself with the Republicans now and benefiting from a rebound in the economy in 2011 and 2012.
