A tough week... a rant... Are you glad this week is over ?

A Tough Week

This morning I turned off CNBC - I was done !!  I was tired of hearing the doom and gloom and I decided I could care less what the market did today.

Tonight I am worn down from a rough week.  A lot of people I think were affected by the week's negativity and fear afflicted by the media.

Our seller clients were more emotional and full of uncertainty about if their property can sell or not.  Some are asking me the question, "Can a buyer get a mortgage at all ? " .

Another seller went on a 10 minute rant of a government conspiracy and how his pension is going to disappear.  He was frantic...  He complained that he would not sell his property in the next 10 years and commented that we must really been feeling it.  I told him that we had 17 properties under contract right now and we are doing fine. He can sell his property if he lowered the price !  Of course that is another story !!!

Throughout the week we dealt with post settlement disputes, the threat of potential lawsuits, default and escrow disputes (and resolution).   Not a lot of happiness in these discussions...

One day, I had to show up at a property with my clean-out guy and remove a refrigerator and stove before an appraisal began and when it was done put the appliances back.  Sound whacky ??  Is only the beginning... will save this one for another blog.

On another day (today) we explicity stated and planned ahead for a FHA reinspection which the mortgage person "forgot" to order even after he was reminded several times.  So at 5:00 on a friday we had to plan for this property to be boarded up for the weekend so it would not get broken into again !  How many contractors do you know that will go out to do that on a moment's notice ?   If our sellers only knew what we do for them...

The stock market was down how many percentage points amid the financial crisis ?  I think the whole week was crazy.  Seemed like we worked immensely but I am not sure what really got accomplished... a lot of spinning wheels in the crazy real estate world.  We usually have at least one settlement per week but not this week...

The big picture is the Philadelphia Phillies won tonight, we closed several deals during the week, lost a listing or two, have scheduled two listing appointments for tomorrow and are looking foward to a new week !  Am glad we made it through this one !!!

How was your week ?  Are you glad this week is over ?
