Are You Pumped Up ?
In those offices where the office energy level is high, deals are being made and negotiations are constantly going back and
forth. In this environment, Realtors can thrive and learn and their talent level and learning curve can shoot up quickly. In offices where this is not the case, it is dreary and depressing, phones are barely ringing, Realtors are staring at the phone, or maybe they are on Facebook posting an update. No money is being made. It is outright depressing.
Obviously, the more successful people that are in an office, the more that will help that entire office as a whole. High energy and successful sales people help everyone around them. I will share a quick little story that at first I was a little embarrassed about.
Recently, I ripped into a buyers agent on the phone. I was not in my chair. I was pacing in my office. I was outside my office as my wife Stephanie was on the phone. My voice level increased. As the other agent become more argumentative, so did I. We got into it. It was one of those good ole fashioned debates. And I knew I was 100 percent right on every point (that is another story). Either way, the rest of the agents do not hear me raise my voice too often. I was a little worried at first because I am now part owner of the RE/MAX office and need to "set an example". Back when I was just an agent I was constantly having these type of calls as a top producer, but figured as an owner, I needed to tone it down a bit.
So after the call, I went around the office and apologized to the Agents that were in the office. And a few minutes later, several Agents came up to me and said "Chris, that really fired me up. That was awesome. I am now going to make a number of calls as I am now all pumped up !" It reminded me that it is important to be pumped up and it is important to have high energy. Not that it is okay to rip into a buyers agent on every phone call..
But when you are speaking to clients and prospects at your desk, a few suggestions:
- Stand up ! Your voice and your actions will come out with more energy !
- Use a hands free device. Will have the same effect
- Read those daily motivational notes
- Think positively
- Make the hard calls first - get them out of the way so you do not dread them
- Do not let one person or one phone call drain your energy for the day.
- Have a daily to do list in terms of how many calls you are going to make that day
This perspective about attitude will lead to success for any industry - not just real estate ! One most have goals, a great attitude and energy to accomplish those daily tasks. It is not that difficult if you really think about it. If you make a few minor adjustments, you can probably increase your production no matter what industry you are in by 20 percent annually !
Increasing production pumps me up.
Are you pumped up ?
