Do you Walk and Text or Walk and Email ? Or Enjoy Your Walk ?

I have found myself walking and texting a lot recently or walking and emailing.  Is there a name for this ?  Wexting or Ewalking ?  Since it is not easy to keep up with it, I have really been maximizing my time to respond to emails and texts while I walk.

Wexting ?Yesterday, when I was walking from our Northern Liberties condo to DNA Salon at Liberties Walk to get my haircut, the whole way up and back that is what I was doing.  When I walked to the bank later in the day from my office, I was doing the same thing.

Now this is efficient !

And... Not that smart.

After thinking about it and realizing how oblivious I can be, it is not that safe.  What if I walked in front of a car or biker ?  Not to mention that yesterday was such a beautiful day, I really missed out on just enjoying a few minutes of serenity to give my mind a break, enjoy the breeze and relax.

I know it is hard to keep up with every email and text.  How did we manage before without our Iphones and Blackberries ?

So, the next time you have an obsessive mind like I do and you catch yourself Wexting, take a step back, put the phone away, relax, take a deep breath, smile and be thankful.

Let's have a great day today !

Is Blogging like Exercising ?

Is Blogging like Exercising ?

I think so.  They are both an action.  Both require practice, discipline, structure and inspiration. What goals are you setting for yourself ?

Also, they both require scheduling.  For our blog, our goal is to write 5 to 7 blog posts per week.  At the same time, I have recently set a goal to have a workout 3 times a week.

Right now, I am accomplishing our blog goals but am behind on the exercise goals.  I did have 2 work-outs last week so am close.

Either way, when I was at the gym on Sunday, I noticed something interesting.  There was a spinning class going on.  During the same time, I went on the running machine.  In the past, I would work out 5 to 7 times a week and do spinning classes regularly at The Sporting Club at the Bellvue.  Now I am a little shy and not sure how I would fare.  So with that fear, I did not want to take the spinning class.  But doing the exercise at the same time worked out well as the music was blaring and it got me pumped up to stay on the bike longer than usual.  It also inspires me to come back more and maybe at the same time the spinning class is !

Blogging is similar in that in the beginning, one does not know what they are doing and may be afraid of writing a bad blog post, getting zero comments or just lacking confidence.  During that time, it is a good idea to read other blog posts and get acclimated and do a little practice on your own.  A related blog post to that is:

Learning from Other Succesful Bloggers - Watch Listen and Observe

My goal moving forward is to take some of my discipline and structure I have for blogging into exercising.  I know I need it to keep my stress and anxiety in check.  I think this applies to all of us no matter what industry you are in to be able to set goals, establish structure and scheduling and stick with it !

Think I can do it ?  What goals are you setting for the year ?

Perspective - when a client is a friend and a mentor

When a Client Becomes a Mentor - Perspective - Philadelphia Real Estate

Perspective

Over the course of the last year I have been trying to find balance in my life and attempting to manage stress and anxiety with our tremendous amount of volume of real estate transactions that we do.  With each deal comes its own level of worry, stress and anxiety.

To be honest, I have not been that succesful with this goal as I have been struggling with crippling migraines.  The frequency comes and goes but for the most part of the last year, I will have a bad migraine at least once a week.

I have been thinking the answer is more in terms of managing time better and scheduling as well as getting more exercise.  Im sure both of these will help a little...

During a settlement yesterday, I asked my seller client how he does it ?  I have always really respected this individual who is now 52 (looks like 35), is very fit, is a top tennis player in the state for 45 and older and runs a very successful business in addition to owning a lot of real estate.

His answer suprised me... it was not go to the gym 7 times a week (which is what he does and I used to do)... his answer was  one word "Perspective" . I asked him to elaborate.

His answer was "Chris, I am 52 years old, and every day of those 52 years, I wake up in the morning and am grateful to be alive.  I wake up every day no matter what is going on around me.  I can let all the little things bother me, but I choose not to."

He continued "Every day I take time for myself and for my family, no matter what is going on with the business and the economy.  Every day I take a walk in the part and go to the gym.  All the business things will get done, and the items that I do not get to today, I will get to tomorrow.  Either way, I do not worry about it.  But the most important thing Chris, is perspective on life."

Life is shortIt does not make sense to be worried all the time about potential deals.  It does not make sense to be consumed by stress and anxiety that results in health issues such as migraines.

However, it does make sesnse to wake up every day with gratitude.  To be thankful for all the things that you do have and not worry so much about the things you do not...

Persepctive

Perspective is beautiful... The answers sometimes lie in how we look at the world, as well as ourselves.

I want to take a moment to thank my friend...

How has perspective changed in your life ?
