Port Richmond Works! A Neighborhood that deserves a 2nd Look.

Port Richmond Works !

Our office was located in Port Richmond for a few years.

So, Chris and I have become vPort Richmond Worksery familiar with the neighborhood and the surrounding subdivisions. We do not live in PortRichmond, though may of our co-workers have either grown up there, have family and friends there or they actually live in the neighborhood. One thing for sure, the people who live in Port Richmond really have strong ties to the neighborhood.

Most recently in the last several years during the market bubble, Port Richmond home prices have increased dramatically. Many of the folks who lived there for years became concerned about all of the development in the area. New construction was not an every day occurrence in this area. Change is not always welcome. But the new construction homes including the New Construction Beazer development at Venango near the Home Depot and Target have been well received. There were a few other smaller developers who built a few new townhomes on the east side of Aramingo, for example on Mercer and Auburn (we sold one of those!!) as well as the most recent Condos being sold by Miles and Generalis on Thompson Street.

There have been a few new construction projects that have either been scratched or have bumped into some difficulty due to the current challenges in the lender market. But all in all. if you are looking to put roots down in a family friendly and tight knit community, then Port Richmond certainly fits the bill.

The Somerset strip near Richmond Street has 2 legendary restaurants that attract people from all over. They are The Hinge Cafe (love them!) and Tacconelli's Pizzeria. The revised Bonks Bar (above) on Tioga and Richmond is a cool little gastro-pub gaining popularity, Byrnes Tavern (above) is a certain destination. There is a new all night Diner that caters to the truckers and local night owls called Richmond Diner (above). The Mercer Cafe is a popular spot too. If you like Polish influenced food and authentic Polish pastry, well you've come to the right place in Port Richmond.

Hey, if it sounds like this neighborhood is builtPolish Pastry on Allegheny Ave Port Richmond
around it's restaurants and bars, you are half right.
There are friendly parks and convenient shopping spots all over the town. Port Richmond is built around places where people can gather and enjoy and celebrate! When you come off of the I95 Allegheny ramp driving North on I95, when you reach
the bottom of the ramp, there is a big sign that says
"Welcome to Port Richmond. Port Richmond Works!"
That sign says it all !

Hard working, good people, great neighborhood!
