Summer Reading: Make Room for the Big Book of Small, Cool Spaces

Big Book of Small, Cool SpacesLiving in a big city often means dealing with spaces that aren't as large as you'd like. You know the ones. They're adorable, situated conveniently, and have all of those neat features, but there's one thing missing: square footage. Yes, we've all passed on places simply because they are a bit too small for us or lacked storage and closet space that we go into the buying/renting process thinking we absolutely need.

It turns out there are a bunch of happy, positive-thinking dwellers who stood by the small units and turned them into amazing homes. So many that Apartment Therapy put together a book on these tighter apartments and houses. Apartment Therapy's Big Book of Small, Cool Spaces walks us through the challenges of developing tinier quarters with space-saving solutions.

The book, from Apartment Therapy founder Maxwell Gillingham-Ryan, features 40 spaces. So next time you're feeling a little cramped in your apartment or you're just not viewing houses that seem big enough, bust out a copy of this for some inspiration. Are you trying to sell and want to make your property seem as large as possible? Done.

And while you're at it, check out Small Cool Kitchens on Apartment Therapy's spin-off blog, the Kitchn.
