Whenever we have an event or Meet the Builders Tour, designing the menu with our Event Planner is always the fun part. It allows us to really highlight the neighborhood food culture - and there is always a neighborhood favorite - that some of our guests may not have tried yet. We always aim to keep it local.
We try to create a relaxed cocktail party vibe in the properties that we tour for these events. Nobody wants to walk into an empty, uninviting atmosphere, and it's always a good time to talk about the neighborhood over a sip of wine.
For our Old Kensington tour, we featured Mexican food from a nearby tacqueria. After our tour in Northern Liberties, we headed to Apollinaire in the Piazza, and now, for our tour of Collins Street in Fishtown, we're loading up on.....Pretzels. Beer. Hot Chocolate. Salty. Sudsy. Sweet.
Pretzels? Yes, because Fishtown is the place where a still-warm, soft pretzel is something you grow up with and order with melted cheese at the local delis. We'll have Pretzels and Cinnamon Twists made right on Frankford Avenue.
Philadelphia Brewing Company is newer to Fishtown and East Kensington, but it feels so familiar to the neighborhood already, and is well-known all over the city as a delicious local beer. So we'll have Kenzinger, Walt Wit, Joe Coffee Porter, and Pale Ale to kick back with, and a full tour of the Brewing Company following our showing of 2568-70 Collins Street.
