It's Bloktober Time

Bloktoberfest is taking over the streets of South Street West (southwest of Center City) tomorrow for a day of free music and plenty of street food that will highlight local businesses in the neighborhood. Fall's best craft beer, emerging local artists, and Philly's hottest food trucks? Now that's a block party.

Start at the Bloktoberfest Welcome Tent sponsored by Rittenhouse Market at 21st and Christian, where you can pick up a $12 Beer Pass that is good for a beer stein and 3 drink tickets. Live performances will be on the Blok Stage and at Shiloh Gallery. For the full schedule and more details, check out the Bloktoberfest site.

If you haven't ventured around this neighborhood before, or if it's been too long, this is the perfect time to check it out.

Proceeds from Bloktoberfest are directed toward vital architectural preservation work for the Shiloh Baptist Church at 2040 Christian St, a a neighborhood landmark designed by Frank Furness in 1868 and listed in the Philadelphia Register of Historic Places.
