The Somers Team Dream Bedroom: Revealed!

If you've been following our bedroom makeover, well, today is your day. Enough teasing.

Here is how it all happened.

One of the biggest concerns for us was the comfort of our bedroom. We agreed with Voila that our sleigh bed commanded too much space in the room and we were not happy with our mattress. What we needed was a platform bed that would bring a level of modern edge, with crisp organic bedding and a pintuck duvet that would give the room a luxe, sanctuary feel. Kathryn from Voila put it best when she promised to turn the room into a "W Hotel experience".

Our bedroom went through a couple of stages during the design process. The change was dramatic and much welcomed.

By adding an accent wall to the beige room, in a gray hue called "Sparrow", and some soft, lush pillows, the earth tones coexist in tandem with the painted side tables (given a fresh coat of white paint from Carter Studios) and a new rug that has comfort written all over it.

It's the little things, like plush new pillows, that make this room extra special.

Platform bed, linens, rug, throw pillows from West Elm. Mattress and pillows from Sleepy's. Buckhead wall accents, furry pillow, and painting from Pier 1.

I love the accent wall for the bed... But the real question is how stressful was it to have to paint and re-paint to get it right???

Zero stress. Voila wrapped it up painting wise and chose the color... was so easy!

Wow!  I love it!  And what an amazing view you have!

Definitely an improvement.  I kinda like the dark wall though.

I agree with Jane, I think I like the dark wall better, and even if I didn't I probably wouldnt have painted it a second time.  I hate painting!

Guys it is the exposeure of the photo.. the wall is dark : ) If the wall was light in real life... I'd agree with you. The dark wall makes al of the difference.

I thought you painted it dark and then re-painted it the lighter color... That is why I questioned the PIA factor!

Posted by Robert Rauf (HomeBridge Financial Services (NJ)) about 4 years ago

Nope... dark it is and dark I like. Good eye though. I have to admit, when I painted one of the bathrooms in a previous home by myself with no assistance with the color choice, I repainted it 3 times !!! Talk about PIA Factor !!! Never again !!!

I am getting Voila's Color Consult first forever more !

My wife and I are about to paint 2 of our baths and the master... so many choices in color it is a difficult decision, One I am willing to let her make :)

Posted by Robert Rauf (HomeBridge Financial Services (NJ)) about 4 years ago

Chris leaves those decisions up to me as well. But I am just as busy with clients as he is. So for me making a decision as big as choosing a color required a lot more thought and experince than I have. Color theory is not as easy as it looks. That is why I recommend Voila's Color Consultations for those people in Philadelphia or near Philly. Their spot on with their selections. The time and stress choosing a color for me was not even a factor. Gotta love that!
