How I Lost More than 15 Pounds in 2 Months

How I Lost More than 15 Pounds in 2 Months

So how did I lose more than 15 pounds and why is this relevant ?

Sometimes answers are in front of us, so close and so easy to reach but for whatever reason we choose not to see them, whether it be our own denial or lack of awareness.   In my case, it was a little of both, but mostly denial.   For the last couple of years, I have been struggling with horrible migraines and stomach issues.  I went the traditional path of seeing doctors whicn in turn, numerous procedures and tests were performed and ultimately I was prescribed several types of medication. Since my symptoms did not improve, I sought natural remedies - a combination of yoga, gluten-free diet and accupuncture.   And after continuing to struggle, I tried one last thing - I stopped drinking soda.

Pepsi AddictionI confess; I have been a Pepsi addict for decades.  Over the years my wife recommended to me countless times that I cut down on sugar but for whatever reason, I could not let it go.  I would rationalize as often times I would "feel better" having a Pepsi (or two or three) during a headache or what not.   But lo and behold, after finally surrendering and eliminating Pepsi out of my diet, not only did I quickly lose 15 pounds (or more), I have not taken one migraine pill since that day.

So how does this story relate to real estate or this blog ?  It is a good question and perhaps it does not at all.  But that would depend on each one of us.   Sometimes the answers in life are simple where we try to make it complicated.  For example:

  1. What is holding you back in your business today ?
  2. What is the one thing that you should either eliminate or add starting today ?
  3. What practices can you begin that could make you a better person ?
  4. What disciplines can you implement to make you a better Realtor ?

Big picture, is that a healthy lifestyle - body, mind and spirit will not only make you wildly successful, but also so much more content and happy.

Losing 15 pounds was never my goal but I heard the other day that "thin is in" so I will take it for now.  I am happy (and proud) that I crushed through the thickness of my own denial, surrendered and am now experiencing the positive results.

I hope you experience the same in your life and in your business.

Chris

Congrats! Without your health you have nothing. I am a Pepsi lover too (especially the Throwback version) and have had to discipline myself to have maybe one per week. I drink a lot of Powerade Zero now. Simply walking 2-3 miles as many times per week as possible  combined with the reduction in soda calories can make a big difference in your weight and overall health. Keep it up! But don't hesitate to take a taste of Pepsis now and then - you deserve it.

Good for you Christopher.

I often had discussions with the gentleman who does pest inspections for me.  He was overweight about 50 lbs.  One day, when he had a yes, can of Pepsi in his hand I asked if he had read the label.  Well that was an eye-opener for him.

He dumped the Pepsi drinking and the next time I saw him, 3 months later, he'd dropped 35 lbs.

He was terribly embarrassed one day when he couldn't fit through an opening to a crawl space to inspect a home for me.

Lovely gentleman and now the body to fit.

Randy - Well said!  And yes, I LOVE throwback Pepsi - is my FAV !  Perhaps in the future I will sneak one in here and there but for now am just riding the wave.  More importantly, congrats on your implementation of both exercise and cutting back on your intake as well!  ~ Chris

I love that you posted this! Soda really is terrible. I pretty much cut it out but I'll have a Coke in a restaurant once in a while. As long as we keep treats as treats we are so much better off. Congratulations on your success and thanks for sharing!!

Well Said - Stopping the coffee and coke/pepsi GAVE me migraines or really really really bad headaches - I think it was called caffiene withdrawl.

Katherine - "keep treats as treats" - love your quote and congrats to you as well.

Debbie - Thanks.  That type of withdrawal is common-place.  I have found that sparking water really helped in getting off Pepsi.

My soda problem is Diet Coke.  Though it's rare to have more than one a day and now like you've I've been trying to reduce that number.

I haven't made any serious attempt to give up diet soda. I don't honestly like "real" sodas anymore - they leave a weird aftertaste for me. Congratulations on your weight loss. Cool stuff!

Hannah - Thanks !  I will take it for now but I know those pesky headaches/migraines can come back.  But at least I am having some relief for now.

Jason - Thanks !  I never tried diet soda - am just happy that I was able to make progress as I would not think it would have been possible to overcome my Pepsi addiction.
