Is what we see and think the truth ?
I try to have a positive attitude every day, but sometimes I do not. On many days, I can be very very hard on myself. If I make a mistake that I regret or do something that I should not have done or said something I should not have said, I can get down on myself. A very bad day is when many of these items happen at once. On those days, I can start to feel very bad and think very negative feelings, feeling like a failure, thinking I am a failure, falling into the spiral of depression and so forth...
Fortunately I am married to a beautiful person - Stephanie. She is my support and reminds me of who I am and reminds me it is okay to make a mistake. When I get like that I realize the power of perception - how irrational one's thoughts can be and how my perception is not close to being reality.
These times are also a good time for faith and belief. Belief that everything is going to be okay and having faith in a higher power that provides for strength. Sometimes just going for a walk or reading something inpirational will trigger that reminder and provide for a smile and awareness that life is beautiful.

Also, the power of this type of thinking can be reversed as well. Positive thinking and positive energy can lead to a success mindset. I believe we become what we think about. If we are thinking confident, we will be confident.
This is one of the reasons that exercise is so important as it clears the mind and provides for positve energy. Yoga works wonders for Stephanie and myself. If one has balance in their life and has people that love and care about them, the support system really helps a person maintain a positive outlook. To love and to be loved is what can provide beauty and gratitude in one's life.
So on those days or a moment in a day when I am thinking negative or feeling like a failure or down and out, I try to catch myself in that lie. And remember all the things in life I am thankful for and how beautiful life really is. Besides, the things that get me upset typically are relatively trivial and have no great impact in the big picture. But in the moment I think people can let those things have power over them. It is great to have the strength and the awareness to not let that happen... and to just SMILE instead.
What do you do when your perception is not reality ?

The "Secret" does work....positive attracts positive....Although hard work helps tons too!
It is true that our attitude affects the outcome of so many situations. When working we need to be able to put our personal isses to rest and focus on the situation. A job well done will cheer you up, maybe later the other issues won't seem so overwhelming!
Attitude is everything. my saying on rough days is 'Fake it till you make it!"-Dinah
Christopher and Stephanie:
It's putting it all into perspective. I been talking to clients every day who want to buy and just need a little better general feeling of well being.
Everyday, do what has to be done and it all comes together. Never fight it.
Richard
Pat - Positive does attract positive ! That is one of the aspects that makes Active Rain beautiful with positive karma and positive energy !
Amanda - So true. That is the beauty of our profession I believe. We can focus on other people's issues and situation and help them buy and sell real estate. Often just the situations we become involved in provide for gratitude as well. It is important to stay focused and not let personal issues get in the way.
Dinah - I love the "fake it until you make it" saying too !
Richard - so true... it is all about putting it all into perspective. Fear paralyzes folks into making decisions sometimes. It is a skill to be able to see and be aware of the bigger picture.
You my friends should join the positivity group. Sally and Midori would love to have you. Great positive attitude. Don't change! :)
Christopher,
Thanks for the post. Human nature is what it is, but we can take control, rather than be at the mercy of circumstances.
Hey Christopher and Stephanie,
Perception is reality.
I like the saying, 'if you can perceive it and believe it - then you can achieve it!"
Thanks, Laurie
Castellum - we love positivity so will look to join that group. Thanks for the tip !
William - Yes I agree it is best to be proactive. If at the end of the day, we put our best foot foward, that is the best we can do : ).
Laure - I love the saing ! We can all achieve pretty much what we set our sights for !
Everyone has a different opinion on things which we perceive to be great or beautiful. Nothing is what it seems, but sometimes all that matters is how we feel about ourselves. Depression is often caused by our own perceiption of inequities we believe to ehibit. Truth being, that it's all a mindgame. This is why the positivity group is great. It doesn't necessarily help us lie to ourselves about who or what we believe to be, but it helps us become more accepting of ourselves. These ideals can be translated into the market as well. If we believe the market to be bad, it can be. Exercise and vacations are great for relieving stress temporarily but better yet is productive work. By being productive and reaching your goals you can lower your stress levels greatly. Moreover, by saying no, (a word i've learned to love) you can choose the workload you desire for that day, week, month or year. We all have our limits and one of the greatest strife's in life is knowing what that limit is. Being overwhelmed might help you make a few extra dollars but your efficiency will suffer. It's better to be productive. Great article, very worth of a feature and something more of us should think about.
